You might be aware of the proposed formation of a government funded academy by the amalgamation of Priory Primary School and Kings School Tynemouth in September 2013.

Clearly, if this proposal goes ahead, the local educational landscape will change, giving parents a wider choice of secondary education for their children. However, I can assure you that Marden High School will continue to focus relentlessly on achieving the highest possible standards so that we offer a service to the local community which is second to none.

Indeed, Marden High School has made significant gains in the past year.

As I hope you know, we have just achieved our best ever GCSE results: 73% 5+ A*-C with English and Maths. This upsurge in standards combined with the great news that the government has approved our application for capital funding for a brand new building puts us in a very strong position.

In other words, Marden is going from strength to strength and I am confident that we will more than withstand the very sudden introduction of another state funded secondary school in the locality.
